The organization planning the 2018 East York Canada Day parade and festivities at Stan Wadlow Park is optimistic that the popular and much missed midway of rides and games can return for next year’s event. It was absent in 2017 due to financial constraints.

Shannon Timms, president of the official East York Canada Day Corporation that runs the affair (see also www.eycdc.ca) told East York Chronicle after a recent sponsorship meeting that things are basically on track thanks to input from a new group of volunteers who are planning to begin approaching potential supporters this month.

“We had a lot of great ideas thrown around tonight. One of which is that we will be looking into having a midway again,” Ms. Timms said.

People interested in getting involved can attend the next planning meeting, taking place Wed. October 18 at East York Civic Centre, 850 Coxwell Ave., starting at 7:30 p.m.  There will be another meeting on November 15 prior to a break for the holiday season and monthly sessions resume January 17 and continue the third Wednesday of every month.  “We always will need volunteers, more so now that we have broken off in to smaller groups for ease of planning,” she added.
