Now a ten-year tradition, the annual Michael Garron Hospital Danforth Dash Bed Race takes place the afternoon of Friday, August 5 to kick off the annual Krinos Taste of The Danforth festival weekend and to raise funds for the East York hospital.

Presented by the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 113, the race, featuring elimination heats and a finale run, includes over 20 teams sponsored by local organizations, companies and community groups.

Teams roll hospital beds along Danforth Ave., which is closed to traffic for the weekend, to compete for the “coveted Golden Bed Pan trophy” and bragging rights.

The starter’s gun fires at 1 p.m. on Danforth Avenue two blocks east of Broadview.
