Summer has many delights and for those who enjoy live music one of them is watching and listening to  performers share their talents on an outdoor stage in a park setting. Of course many people know that various events featuring live music happen weekends at Woodbine Park and the Beaches International Jazz Festival uses various outdoor locations, including parks, throughout its now month-long run in July. The hugely successful and long-running M-Factor weekly indie artist showcase series is moving to a new night and new room starting in February. Held for the past six years at Old Nick pub on Danforth Ave. near Broadview (and five years downtown before that) the high-profile event will have a real stage and better schedule when it relocates to Eton House at 710 Danforth Ave. just east of Pape Ave. on Thurs. Get your gumboots moving at Feb. 14 special class

If you want to try something a little different, you can learn a very distinctive dance style at the S. Walter Stewart Library on Valentines Day, Tuesday, February 14. Gumboots is a rhythmic, dynamic dance originating from South Africa, and requires the use of rubber boots. A first influence of Stomp dance, the body becomes the musical instrument.
