East York Chronicle Mission Statement

Mission Statement East York Chronicle is a monthly community newsmagazine designed to do what its name suggests: chronicle events and the evolving scene in the community known as East York in the City of Toronto. More than that, we aim to help the community to become more self aware by giving readers insights into the past and everchanging present of the area, as well as food for thought about what its future might be. Whatever the municipal boundaries of the former Borough of East York may have been, and as diverse geographically and ethnically as this big chunk of “Old Toronto” may be, there is no doubt in our minds that people who live within the borders of our coverage area share many common experiences, concerns, aspirations and delights arising out of inhabiting this special part of the world....

Yup, that was a party all right! EYC’s new format celebration Sept. 17 at Linsmore

Chronicle celebration brought out celebs & showcased local talent \ A packed house at Linsmore Tavern the night of Wed. Sept. 17 helped East York Chronicle celebrate our new format launch as over 20 local musical talents performed and local EY celebrities came out to share in the fun. Host and emcee was EYC publisher/editor Gary Webb-Proctor, better known as Gary 17 to those in the music biz.   East York Chronicle is published once a month during the last week of the month previous to its issue date. It covers and is distributed to the East York area of Toronto, Ontario, defined as lying between Broadview Ave. north up to Bayview at Eglinton, easterly to Victoria Park and southerly to Lake Ontario, including the communities of Old East York, Playter Estates, Greektown, Pape Village, Leaside, Flemingdon Park, Thorncliffe Park, Parkview Hills, Woodbine Gardens, Woodbine Heights, Crescent Town, East Danforth, Upper Beaches, Riverdale, Leslieville and The Beach. 15,000 copies of each issue are distributed via community centres, libraries and other public institutions plus hundreds of retail outlets strategically selected for their high-volume of people traffic and best opportunities for display and reader...
